It’s one of the first questions riders ask when planning a Morocco trip — how long do I need? The honest answer is: as long as you can get. But if you’re working with a fixed holiday window, here’s a practical breakdown of what’s achievable at every duration.
3 to 5 Days — The Atlas Escape Short on time but still want a proper riding experience? A 3 to 5-day trip from Marrakech gives you enough time to cross the High Atlas, reach Ouarzazate and loop back through the Draa Valley. You won’t make it to the Sahara, but you’ll ride some of Morocco’s most spectacular mountain roads and come back with memories that last far longer than the trip itself. Pick up a BMW F800GS or F900GS and keep your daily distances manageable — 200 to 250km per day is the sweet spot.
6 to 9 Days — The Desert Loop This is the most popular itinerary among riders who rent with us. Six to nine days gives you time to cross the Atlas, follow the Dades and Draa valleys south, reach the Erg Chebbi dunes at Merzouga and return via a different route. You’ll cover the highlights without rushing, have time to stop and explore and still arrive back in Marrakech with a day to spare. Any bike in our fleet works beautifully for this loop.
10 Days and More — The Grand Tour Ten days or more and Morocco opens up completely. Head south to the Sahara, then north through the Middle Atlas to Fès, west to the Atlantic coast and back to Marrakech. A full loop of the country that covers imperial cities, mountain ranges, desert landscapes and coastal roads. This is the trip riders talk about for years. The BMW R1300GS was made for exactly this kind of journey.
Our Recommendation If you can take ten days, take ten days. If you only have five, five is still worth it. Morocco rewards every duration — but the more time you give it, the more it gives back.
